Mazara del Vallo is the most "Arab" city in Sicily, marking the beginning of the Islamic conquest of Sicily in 827 AD. Today, in the district known as "La Kasbah," a community of Muslims resides in the same places where their ancestors lived centuries ago. Recently, the neighborhood has been adorned with a street art project, adding even more charm to this location. Mazara is also known for the Dancing Satyr, a marvelous Hellenistic bronze statue discovered by local fishermen in the depths of the Sicilian Sea. Moreover, you will admire churches and buildings in Baroque style.
